Transfer news: Charlton boss Chris Powell is happy enough with his team’s start to the season, but if he can find a way to improve his side’s chances by signing new players he is ready to move.

The Addicks and Crystal Palace go head to head tonight at the Valley with the south London neighbours both in need of a spark to start their season.

After four matches, Athletic sit 17th with five points from four matches, which looks considerably better when compared with Palace who are 23rd with three points to their name.

“We’ve had an okay start with winning a game, drawing two and losing one and we’ve had a good look at the Championship,” Powell said.

“But of course if I can bring someone in who will improve us and financially we can do it, then yes, why not.

“I’ve got to look to make us better as much as I can. If I can do that and get someone who is right for us then yes of course it would be something I would like to do. But of course I’ve got to make sure we have the right blend as well within the squad.”
