Orient prepare for Huddersfield test

Orient entertain Huddersfield Town tonight and Skipper Matt Spring insists the team must stop giving away early goals if the side want to climb the table.

The O’s fell behind after just seven minutes in their 2-0 defeat at Charlton on Saturday and that’s been a reoccurring theme in recent games.

“I don’t know how many goals we have conceded in the first 10 or 15 minutes of games, but it’s got to be high,” said Spring.

“We switched off from a free-kick and that’s where the first goal came from.”

However, it’s not only conceding early goals that’s a problem, as Orient have failed to score in three of their last six games.

“We are not carving out enough chances,” said Spring. “We have got to create a little bit more in the final third.”

O’s now face successive home games against Huddersfield Town and Notts County as they look for at least four more points to ensure their safety.

“I don’t know whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing,” pondered the captain.

“Our home form has been very poor this season and so we are probably better off playing away.

“But we will keep working hard, that’s all we can do and battle it out for the rest of the season.

“We have had a tough period of late where we have played most of the top sides and it’s been hard.

“But the season is not over yet and we have got to put a shift in and not switch off.

“We have got to get across the line and it doesn’t matter how we do it. We have got to get as many points as we can from the games that remain.”
