Barnet transfer news: Mark Hughes has left the club

Mark Hughes has admitted his disappointment after Barnet decided against offering the centre back a new contract.

The club captain made over 120 appearances for the Bees and captained the north London side and scored the goal that kept them in the Football League.

“I can’t say I am not disappointed because I am,” he said.

“I have given my all for this football club since I joined, I think the fans have seen that and fully appreciate not only the level of commitment I have shown in every game as captain but also what I have done.

“I have spoken to the new gaffer, he has said he’s looking to go in a different direction and has other ideas, but given my service for the club I thought I would have been in his plans.

“I wish Barnet and the new management team all the best and I am looking forward to a new chapter in my career wherever that may be.”
