League Two: Wycombe Wanderers 0 AFC Wimbledon 1
AFC Wimbledon started life after Terry Brown with their first victory in seven games thanks to a solitary strike from Sammy Moore against Wycombe Wanderers.
Moore’s goal, a superb powerful finish from 25 yards, arrived in the 40th minute to hand the Dons their first win since they beat Chesterfield on the opening day of the League Two season.
Caretaker Simon Bassey took control after Brown’s sacking in midweek and he was relieved to see Moore put the Dons ahead shortly after Byron Harrison had had a penalty saved.
The visitors had the better of the match and deserved to take three points.
The Dons showed defensive strength that had been missing under Brown to keep a clean sheet and hold out for victory after a cagey second half.
The result lifts AFC Wimbledon out of the relegation zone and into 20th place.
