Brentford midfielder Tom Adeyemi was delighted after playing his first 90 minutes for the club and ending up on the winning side against former club Oldham.

Adam Forshaw scored the only goal of the game but the Bees had to hold on for dear life as the clock ticked down.

“I think towards the end it got a bit scary because they had a lot of pressure on us,” Adeyemi told London24. “We coped well and we had to grind out the result.”

After being a substitute in recent games, manager Uwe Rosler handed the on-loan Norwich man his first start and the midfielder responded with a solid 90 minute performance.

“It was a bit of a relief as I haven’t played 90 minutes in about five months now,” he added.

“Maybe my legs were a little bit tired but from a fitness point of view I feel like I’m nearly there.”

Adeyemi enjoyed a spell with Oldham, scoring twice in 36 league appearances for the Latics but was twice on the losing side against the Bees and he was glad he was able to be enjoying victory in a Brentford v Oldham clash.

It was good to be playing against people I know and had good relationships with last season,” Adeyemi added.

“A couple of them left a few in on me. It was good to be able to see some friends again.

“It was a little bit strange with the manager talking about the games last season and I was thinking ‘I was in that Oldham team that you’re talking about’ but I think we’ve got a good group of lads here and it’s been good to end up on the winning team.

“I lost with Oldham here last season.”

The 20-year-old was delighted for Forshaw, whose winner was his first professional goal.

“I didn’t know it was his first professional goal,” he explained. “It was really good for him.

“He’s been playing really well and I’m pleased for him. I hope to get one next week.”
