BARRIE Schulz, the Gosfield Golf Club captain, celebrated his Captain’s Day with a full day of competitions covering all members.

Almost 100 Lakes members competed in the morning and a further 50 competed in the afternoon.

During the day all the teams were treated to the captain’s hospitality as they passed the clubhouse - although many good scores were apparently ruined by those members who ate and drank an unaccustomed snack at the half way stage, the morning BBQ and drink having less influence on scores than the cakes and Pimms in the afternoon.

Fortunately the rain held off and the morning and afternoon gave way to the presentation in the evening. As always, the bad weather produced some wonderful scores and the overall winner on the Lakes course was Rob Murray with 41 points, with the runner up Keith Francis only one point behind.

The best lady was Jacqui Wormall with a score of 33 points.

Best Player on the Meadows course was Ivan Chapman with 36 points and a win after count back.

Schulz finished the Captain’s Day by presenting 17 other prizes to Gosfield members.
