Mary King has been kitted out with her Olympic Team GB strip and the countdown to the Olympics is now on!

The eventing starts on Saturday, July 28 at Greenwich Park and the horses move to the horse park there on July 24 - just 14 days’ time.

King has final squad training on Monday - Wednesday in Buckinghamshire next week, and she will sign in for her Olympic accreditation at Greenwich on Monday.

She said: “The kitting out day on Tuesday has meant that it all seems very close now. We get a lot of kit, really I will only need to take underwear and my riding clothes, the rest is all sorted thanks to Team GB, even down to sunscreen and sunglasses.”

King had a dressage training session with Ferdi Eilberg last week on Imperial Cavalier and, with the postponement of Gatcombe this weekend, will be going to an showjumping competition with the horse. Next Monday they start the team training with a visit to Greenwich Park and the signing in, and the squad have three days in Buckinghamshire including a day for the horses’s owners to watch an in-house competition.

Horses and riders move into the horse park and athletes’ village on July 24 ready for the July 28 start to the three-day eventing.
