Phillips voted player of the year
Billy Phillips joined an exclusive club when he was named Romford Raiders Supporters Player of the Year at the weekend.
Young defenceman Phillips followed in the footsteps of club legends Marc Chartier, Gord Jeffrey, Rob Stewart and current player-coach Danny Marshall, among others, after winning the vote of the fans to receive the Recorder Trophy.
The award was recognition for his efforts on the blue line, which helped Raiders to an English National League and South East Trophy double this season.
Phillips also walked off with a ‘Heart of Romford’ award, while forward Matt Turner earned the vote of his peers to claim the Players Player of the Year award.
Turner also took the Forward of the Year prize, while Tyrone Miller claimed the Defenceman of the Year honours.
Coach Marshall named AJ Smith as his most valuable player and the traditional shirt auction saw vital funds raised, with some selling for over £200.
