Andy Murray knows that he faces a tough test against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga when he faces the fifth seed in the Wimbledon semi final.

The world number four reached this stage thanks to a fourth set win over David Ferrer

The Scot is bidding to win his first Grand Slam title as well as reach his first Wimbledon final but the Frenchman stands in his way from Sunday’s showdown.

“Tsonga will be tough - he’s serving very well, and I’ll have to play very well,” Murray told the BBC.

Murray was beaten on a tie break in the first set but bounced back to win the second by the same format.

The Scot won the third set 6-4 and made the semi final after another tie break victory in the fourth and he paid tribute to his vanquished opponent.

“Ferrer is a great player,” he added. “He’s an unbelievably hard worker.

“At the break I went for a shower and threw some cold water on my face. It was a very intense atmosphere.

“If I lost that fourth set it was going to be a very tough match.
