They kickstarted the season with a win over neighbouring United Services in the Mens` National 2x4. Then followed wins in the Burma Star Mixed Triples by Jackie Hemmings-Anthony, Peter McNeil and John Short and by Peter McNeil and his wife Toni over a Bideford pair in the L & R J Smerdon Mixed Pairs.

Mark Humfrey and Ernie West continued the success with a win in the first round of the Devon Unbadged Pairs competition and club president Maureen Dunkin teamed up with her sister-in-law and ladies captain June Wallis to record a win over Bideford Victoria Park in the National O/70 Pairs.

The winning streak went on as vice captain Marion Redfern and Audrey Long both progressed to the next round of the National O/55 Singles. Maurice Gay and Colin Withey were yet others who added to this tremendous start to the season in the Unbadged Pairs competition.

The Barnstaple club welcomes new bowlers. For more information call club secretary Bruce Buxton on 01271 345681.
