Shane Byrne hoping to keep heat on Tommy Hill
Shane Byrne says he is relying on a bit of lady luck when he visits Oulton Park this weekend in a British Superbike triple header.
The Sheppey rider is currently second in the over standings, six points adrift and is looking for a repeat of his May Bank Holiday double podium at the Cheshire circuit to boost his title chances as the series draws ever closer to the crucial showdown stages.
He will be looking to build on the success of the last round at Knockhill in Scotland where he picked up a double podium, with first and second place rides.
“This weekend is back to business,” he said. “I am looking forward to Oulton Park and we have been working hard ready for the weekend, so it will be down to me and lady luck to get the results for the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki team.”
Back in May he finished second in the first race behind Chris Walker, and 14 seconds ahead of Tommy Hill who finished fourth, while in the second race he claimed victory just two seconds ahead of Hill.
But second time around Shakey knows it will be a tighter affair.
He said: “From previous experience the second visit of the season is always faster and from the May round I dare say I expect Tommy (Hill) to be strong, but there are always other guys coming through, and we will be ready.”
