The North Devon Display Gymnastics Club is seeking the support of the local community in its bid for vital funding.
Having won the local round of the Lloyds Bank Community Award for its work with young people, the club has progressed to the regional round and, after a vigorous selection process, has reached the final four.
The winner of the £5,000 award will be decided by public vote and this is where the club needs the public’s help.
A club spokesperson said: “The support we have received from the local community so far in setting up and opening the new gymnastics centre has been amazing .The number of people of all ages now involved in all types of gymnastics and free running has risen to over 400 in six months. In many ways we are a victim of our own success as the need for additional specialised equipment has become even greater.
“If we were to win this award it could be “sports matched” to achieve a total of £10,000. This would be used to purchase a specialised set of free running equipment which would enable the club to involve even more people of all ages and abilities. It would give us an amazing set up for this type of sport. We’re up against some stiff opposition and other worthy opponents, but we hope that everyone will feel able to support our cause, which will be of benefit to so many local people. In order to achieve this we really need all the people of Torridgeside to support us by taking a moment to cast their vote.”
