Tom Weeden moved into third place in the Triumph Triple Challenge championship after a controversial weekend of racing at Snetterton.

The Maidstone teenager was fourth in the standings prior to round four at the Norfolk track, but moved up to third overall after two of his rivals were penalised in the final race.HHe ended the practice session ninth fastest, and went three seconds faster in qualifying to move him to a starting position of seventh. He was just happy to have finished after nearly crashing towards the end. His placing meant he was promoted to fifth on the grid for race two on Sunday.

Weeden had sight of third place with the race drawing to a close but didn’t have the pace to catch his opponent, and so finished in fourth.

However, it was announced after the race that two of the riders ahead of him were given 21 second penalties, which bumped him up to second, and so moved him to third in overall standings.

Round five of the Triumph Triple Challenge takes place at Brands Hatch on August 20-22.
