DeGale dominated proceedings and gained a 119-109, 117-111, 116-112 verdict on the judges’ scorecards to ensure a successful second defence of his title.

The 26-year-old Londoner looked technically superior throughout the contest, although there were long spells when he was tucked up on the ropes by the French challenger.

The durable Mohoumadi, who had been beaten just twice going into the fight, soaked up an impressive array of blows to ensure the fight went the distance.

But DeGale stung the Frenchman with left hooks in the fifth, seventh and 10th rounds and finished off with a series of swashbuckling blows to secure his 13th win in 14 contests.

He is likely to box again in December, with Monte Carlo already pencilled in as a possible venue.

Earlier on the undercard, south Londoner Lenny Daws claimed the vacant European light-welterweight title with a unanimous points win over former champion Ville Piispanen.
