Woodbury Park supported the Devon Golf Partnership’s Get into golf initiative at the county show and signed up 18 adults for a free six-week beginner coaching programme.
They’ve just completed the sessions, with PGA professional Christian Vine, which covered all aspects of the game and finished with a Texas scramble competition over the Acorn course.
Novices Tom and Andy commented: “It was accessible and with no cost attached to get started. The group coaching was fun and added to the social aspect of the game.”
Now the club has offered the beginners a special membership pack with a reduced rate on the Acorn course and the chance to buy Ben Ross clubs at half price.
Craig Townsend of the Devon Golf Partnership commented: “This was a great Get into golf initiative. To get 18 new golfers coming along every week is a testament to the coaching and openness of the club. Hopefully some will go on to become new members and continue to enjoy the game.”
Get into golf is a national campaign which aims to inspire people to take up golf. It is run by the England Golf Partnership (EGP) through its network of County Golf Partnerships.
Together, they work to grow the game and to achieve the EGP’s vision of making England the world’s leading golf nation by 2020.
