Deeble takes victory in international field.
Jamie Deeble returned to Dagenham as International Pitch & Putt Association (IPPA) English Open champion.
In links style conditions at the Haven course in Allhallows-on-Sea, Kent, golfers also had to deal with the bad weather over the weekend.
But that didn’t stop the Deeble brothers John and Jamie who were first and second after the opening round, with scores of four and three-under-par respectively.
The weather worsened for the second round and only nine holes were completed.
However, it was Jamie’s turn to lead the way with a score of two-under through the nine holes, while John carded a one-over-par second round to drop down to third place.
Jamie was tested throughout his third round and finished with a one-under par 53 despite having to chip in on three occasions on the back nine to save par.
And as the weather improved he held his place at the top of the leaderboard in the last round to bring the title back to Dagenham and add to the ever-growing family trophy cabinet.
John Deeble finally had to settle for third place overall after losing on countback over the last 18 holes to Spaniard J P Mondo.
But the good weekend for the Deeble brothers puts them in form as they prepare for the World Cup event to be held later this year in Ireland.
