The paceman has faith in his team’s skills in the limited overs competitions

Surrey bowler Jon Lewis believes that the south Londoners are similar to the Gloucestershire side of the early 2000s when it comes to the limited overs competition.

The Bristol-based outfit won a one-day treble in 2000, consisting of the Benson & Hedges Cup, C&G Trophy and the Sunday League 40 over competition.

They also won the C&G Trophy in 2003 and 2004 and Lewis believes his new county could repeate his former side’s accomplishments.

“We’ve got a very good side in the CB40,” he told London24.

“We know each others game inside out and the roles we have to play.

“It reminds me of my time at Gloucestershire where we were successful so it’s an exciting competition for us.”

Surrey have three Clydesdale Bank 40 games in four days as they return to cricket after a week off.

Surrey take on Glamorgan at the SWALEC stadium on Saturday as the defending champions look to maintain their 100 per cent record in this season’s competition.

Then, the following day, they host Hampshire at the Kia Oval on Sunday before a home game with Scotland on the Tuesday.
