Surrey bowler Jon Lewis is relieved to be able to step off the cricket treadmill for a week.

The south Londoners have had a busy opening few weeks of the season and are nearly halfway through their County Championship campaign before the end of May.

“We’ve got a week off now which is a relief,” Lewis told London24.

“We’ve had to fight really hard in a lot of our games and it can be quite mentally draining so to have this rest period is really welcome.

“However, there is always a kickback to that as we have seven days of cricket in eight days.”

Those seven days consist of three one day games and their eighth County Championship match of the season, against Sussex at Hove.
