Jacques Rudolph is expected to be in action for South Africa against England this summer

The Surrey paceman wishes the south Londoners departing overseas player the best ahead of the England v South Africa Test series

Surrey bowler Jon Lewis hopes that departing overseas player Jacques Rudolph can score runs for South Africa when they face England in the hotly anticipated Test series.

The Proteas batsman has finished a six-week stint with the south Londoners and scored 229 runs from his 10 innings.

And the 35-year-old bowler hopes that Rudolph can score runs but, ultimately, ends on the losing side.

“I hope he scores a lot of runs for South Africa but England win comfortably,” Lewis told London24.

“Everyone else can fail. He’s a nice man and works hard at his cricket and if he does well then he will deserve it but I really want an England win.”

Lewis also hailed the influence Rudolph has had on the Surrey dressing room.

He added: “Every time you get an overseas player in they all offer vast experience and a lot of knowledge and it’s up to young players to drag the knowledge out of them if you like and make sure you learn what is needed to play at the highest level.

“Jacques has been a very successful cricket and is a very nice man. He has been a welcome addition in the dressing room.”

Indian spinner Murali Kartik is arriving at the Kia Oval to replace the South African.
