The men’s tennis finals which act a showcase to end the season have been held at London’s 02 Arena since 2009.

The current deal, which has seen close to capacity crowds turn out to both day and evening sessions at the 17,000-seater venue, was due to end in 2013.

ATP executive chairman Brad Drewett said: “This week we look forward to welcoming our one millionth fan through the gates at the 02 since 2009.”

The extension of plans to stage the event means “the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals will be played in London for at least the next three years through to 2015,” he said.

“We are very proud of our marquee event, the ultimate showcase of men’s tennis.”

The competition features this year’s top eight singles and doubles pairs.

Sports minister Hugh Robertson said: “The ATP World Tour Finals have been a fantastic success at The 02 since 2009 and a fitting climax to the tennis calendar.

“Today’s announcement is great news for tennis in this country and will let thousands of fans see the very best players in the world in action in the coming years.

“Post London 2012 it is yet another vote of confidence in this country’s ability to deliver major sporting events.”
