Defenceman signs for Streatham

Romford Raiders player-coach Danny Marshall was in realistic mood after Tyrone Miller’s move to Streatham was confirmed.

Long-serving defenceman Miller, 29, helped Raiders win an English National League and South East Trophy double last season, but it proved his last in blue and gold.

Marshall said: “Streatham is on his doorstep and they’ve offered him silly money. It is what it is.

“Some will be happy he’s gone, some won’t. He’s had his best years at Romford, but Streatham are looking like being a handful this year.

“We’ll see how they do.”

Redskins only just avoided the wooden spoon last season, but have since snapped up Dominic Hopkins from the Isle of Wight and Jakub Klima from Chelmsford in a serious show of intent ahead of the 2012/13 National Ice Hockey League season.

Miller told Streatham’s official website: “I’ve always wanted to play for the Redskins.

“I played at Streatham as a junior and it’s where I learned to skate. It’s my local team.”

Redskins coach Barry Spours added: “We’re delighted to bring Tyrone back to Streatham.

“He is strong and tough and a no-nonsense defenceman which is exactly what every team needs.

“I have always been impressed when we have played against him how calm and composed he is.”
