John Marchant won the three irons and a putter Stableford on Sunday. Disallowing woods on a course with no run made club selection very interesting, writes Andy Wagner.

Marchant took the day with a below par 34pts playing the same three clubs he plays week in week out!

Tuesday Mixed golfers enjoyed an American Foursomes and the winners, with 36pts, were Elizabeth Ward and Seniors’ vice-captain Bob Underwood. Second were Maureen Tollemache and Richard Pyle with 35pts ocb from lady captain Jackie Seager and Terry Lindsdell.

●Seager, presided over Lady Captain's Day which saw 67 ladies take part in the individual Stableford. Though the going was rough, the winners brought in respectable scores. The Silver Division was won by Ann Trayling, 36pts, from Diana Gee, 32 pts and Chris Pearce 31. In Bronze 1 Division Jan Dickinson won with 29, Linda Northover was second with 28 pts ocb from Joan Smith also with 28. In Bronze 2 Division the winner was Majsan Stroud with 31pts, with Jean Putt and Sue Long, 28 points, separated ocb. The 10 hole competition was won by Caroline Wickenden, and overall winner of the Lady Captain's Prize went to Henrietta Bradshaw with a magnificent 39 points.

There were also prizes for nearest the pin on holes 2 and 12, won respectively by Anne Verplanke and Henrietta Bradshaw, and a Lady Captain's "Secret Hole" won by Maddie Price.
