The Axe Valley Pedallers monthly Sunday ride went further afield than usual in June, writes Robert Watson.
Seven riders travelled to Great Torrington and had a lovely ride to Instow on the Tarka Trail, with a stop for tea and cake at the little train carriage cafe at Bideford.
On arrival at Instow they hopped onto the ferry (two trips required to transport the five bikes) to cross the water to Appledore where they were joined by Joe Pitt and Banjo the three-month-old collie.
Founder AVP member Susie Pitt then led the group to her delightful café where they had a reserved table and were provided with a delicious lunch and a tour of the café garden. Finally it was back along the road to Bideford to rejoin the Tarka Trail back to Great Torrington. A lovely ride with the rain mostly holding off.
