LV= County Championship Division One: Lancashire v Surrey preview
Manager Chris Adams admits he’s looking forward to the final LV= County Championship game of the season at Lancashire after Surrey secured their first division status last week with victory over Nottinghamshire.
That result means he can afford to rest Kevin Pietersen and Murali Kartik for the trip to Liverpool.
Gary Wilson is unavailable having joined up with Ireland for the World T20 in Sri Lanka so Matthew Dunn, George Edwards and Tom Jewell all come into the squad.
Adams said: “We go into this final game of the summer with the pressure off us and that is a nice feeling.
“The players have responded magnificently in recent weeks to the position we found ourselves in and I could not have asked any more of them.
“It has been a tough and emotional season but we have managed to stay focused and keep ourselves in the first division.
“We will be looking to put in one last big effort this week and there is an opportunity available to some younger players in this final game.
“We are looking forward to the challenge of playing Lancashire and we are determined to finish this season on a positive note.”
