Gillingham boss Martin Allen is looking to shuffle his pack ahead of the trip to Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow night.

With Saturday’s 3-1 season opening win over Bradford City being played in the energy-sapping heat Allen hinted that he may change some of starting line-up for the clash against the Chairboys who were relegated from League One last term.

He said: “Tomorrow we have a squad of 20 travelling to Wycombe and I feel we need some fresh legs in our team. This is our third game of the week, with one of them being played at about 3,000 degrees. We have players chomping at the bit for their turn and in my mind they have worked hard and when they have played, they have done well.”

He also thanked supporters for their input at Priestfield for the opening game.

He said: “First and foremost thank you to everybody who came to support our team on Saturday. The atmosphere and noise levels were mentioned by the players in the dressing room after the game.

“When you are out in the middle, and things are not always going your way, it is great when the supporters give you that lift and actually support the team.”

He also revealed a bit of advice he’d been given by a fan he met on a walk along.

He said: “Yesterday morning I met a Gillingham season ticket holder as I went for a walk down at Whitstable. He told me to look up and wave to everybody as I walk along that touchline. Now, I do apologise if I upset anybody and if I seemed rude or big time, or non-appreciative. To be honest I find it embarrassing and it is difficult for me. I will do my best to improve.”
