Marshall: He’s happy here

Romford Raiders player-coach Danny Marshall revealed his delight after Slovakian import Juraj Huska agreed to return to Rom Valley Way for the 2012-13 season.

Huska topped the scoring charts ahead of long-serving Marshall as Romford landed an English National League and South East Trophy double last term.

And his signature was much sought-after by rival clubs at home and overseas.

Marshall said: “As a coach I’m happy and as a linemate I’m happy

“I’ve played with a lot of players over the years and sometimes it takes a while to connect.

“But we do connect well and know where the other one is going to be. We can put points up.

“I know a lot of teams were after him and he had offers from aborad to play.

“He’s happy here and has made good friends and wants to stay another year.

“He was a big part of the team last year and will continue to be next season.”

Huska rejoins Lithuanian import Andrius Kaminskas and British players Frankie Harvey, AJ Smith, Matt Turner and Julian Smith on the roster, with more names to be announced in the coming weeks.

Marshall added; “When it comes to imports it can be awkward. You don’t know what you’ll get sometimes.

“A lot think the standard here is not as good as it is and they come and get a shock. But we’ve got two good imports who are well known and are of a good pedigree.

“We know what we’ll get from them, whereas Chelmsford are now looking for two new guys.

“It could be a bit of a gamble for them and they may end up with a couple of duds. Getting good imports is half the battle.”

Huska and Kaminskas were certainly good value at both ends of the ice for Marshall’s men on their way to success last season.

And the coach refuted suggestions that other teams might have now worked Huska out after two seasons in gold and blue.

He said: “When you’re a natural, talented goalscorer, nothing can stop you doing what you do best.

“Juraj does it well, no matter what other teams try. You could say other teams have worked me out by now!

“I’m delighted to get him back. He’s a good goalscorer and it’s one less thing for me to worry about. It’s a big weight off my shoulders.”
