Tom Maynard has signed a one year extension

Surrey batsman Tom Maynard has signed a one year extension to his contract with the county after an impressive 2011 season.
The 22-year-old joined Surrey a year ago and averaged over forty in all three forms of the game as well as scoring over 1,000 first-class runs in a season for the first time in his career.
The Welshman led the way for Surrey with 392 runs at 43.55 in the Twenty20 Cup and added a further 481 at 40.08 in the victorious Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign.
“I am really pleased to sign an extension to my contract. I have enjoyed my first season at the club and I feel I made some valuable contributions throughout the season,” Maynard said.
“To be part of a winning team is something every cricketer strives for and I am positive we will continue to build on our achievements in 2012.”
His views were shared by the Surrey team director, Chris Adams.
“Tom has been superb for us throughout the season, showing impressive maturity and fantastic ability in all forms of the game,” he said.
“His promotion to the England Performance squad fully reflects that and I am delighted he has committed the next three years to Surrey.”
