Surrey and England pace bowler Jade Dernbach has signed for Australian franchise, Melbourne Stars, to play in this year’s KFC T20 Big Bash League.
Dernbach will play alongside Australian legend Shane Warne as well as current internationals like Cameron White, David Hussey and Peter Siddle, who took a hat-trick against England in the opening Ashes test this time last year.
“With the recently announced signing of Warne plus the likes of White, Hussey and Siddle in the squad, I know we are going to be the team to watch in this competition,” Dernbach said.
“I can’t wait to run out at the MCG with the Stars shirt on my back and play my part in bringing the BBL trophy to the Stars.”
The fast bowler, who has a wide variety of deliveries, will be playing at one of the most iconic grounds in the world, the MCG.
“Jade is a tremendous acquisition for the Melbourne Stars as a specialist T20 finisher,” Stars Head Coach Greg Shipperd said.
“He is an aggressive and highly skilled change of pace bowler who will provide further options for the Stars especially with key all-rounder John Hasting missing the season through injury.
“We have been impressed with his emergence as a player and look forward to welcoming Jade to his new home at the MCG.”
The 25 year old has played 13 One Day Internationals, taking 16 wickets.
