The north Londoners face Leicestershire at Uxbridge tomorrow, Lancashire at Old Trafford on Monday and Essex at Chelmsford on Wednesday.

“We expect to be very competitive and we have ambitions to really charge for progression and these next few games, we’ll get the weather on our side and gain momentum,” he told London24.

The bowler was also pleased to see Andrew Strauss back in the ranks for the game with Nottinghamshire.

“It’s always nice to have Andrew back and anything you can take from him is always a bit of a bonus,” Roland-Jones added.

“He’s a fantastic opening batsman for us and for England.

“It’s always nice to have someone who has been through the different stages that he has.

“He batted well on Wednesday and he did get a good one. He said that when he came in.”
