Upminster face their annual meeting with an Essex XI on Sunday.

The event has been well supported in recent summers and is part of Graham Napier’s benefit this year.

Match co-ordinator Paul Middlemiss said: “I can’t believe how quickly the game comes round each year. This is the 14th game we have hosted against Essex since 1997 and they are always a great day.

“The most pleasing thing is that the Upminster public and local cricket fans always come out to support the game. It is great for the club that so many people take an interest in the match.

“Napes has played in a number of these games in the past as well, so I think everyone at the club is especially honoured this year to host a game in aid of his benefit.

“He is a real “Essex Boy” and I hope as many people come along to support him and the club.

“With the 1st XI going for promotion as well it is a big weekend for the club and it would be nice for the lads in our 1st XI to celebrate a return to the Premier Division at this game on Sunday.”

Essex (confirmed): Graham Napier, James Foster, Ryan ten Doeschate, Maurice Chambers, Jaik Mickleburgh, Charl Willoughby, Tymal Mills, Tom Craddock.
