The details of the memorial service for boxing legend Terry Spinks have been finalised
The final details of the funeral service for boxing legend Terry Spinks have been now been confirmed.
A service will be held at St Margaret’s Convent, Bethell Avenue, Canning Town on Wednesday, May 9 at 2.30pm, where many representatives from the world of boxing will be in attendance.
The cortege will then leave for East London Cemetery in Plaistow.
Spinks, who died last Thursday at the age of 74, was a member of the West Ham Boxing Club and struck gold for Britain in the ring at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.
He donated his medal, gloves and Great Britain kit to the club which still hang proudly at the club’s gym.
Spinks was awarded the MBE for his services to the sport in 2002.
