Transfer news: Rangers chief not worried by speculation

Mark Hughes has brushed off speculation linking defender Taye Taiwo with a move to Tottenham Hotspur – but admits he is unsurprised the player is attracting attention of rival clubs.

Taiwo signed for Rangers on loan from Serie A side AC Milan in January, making four appearances so far, and has previously suggested that the club are keen to make the move permanent.

And Hughes has indicated that he is happy with the 26-year-old’s displays so far.

“I haven’t heard that interest, Taye is a very good player, he’s integrated into the group very well, comes into training every day with a smile on his face and he’s good to have around,” said Hughes.

“He has undoubted ability, he has played at the top clubs in Europe. He’s doing very well at the moment and I’m not surprised that other clubs will have a look at him and possibly be interested, but at the moment he’s very happy here, and we’re happy with him.”
