QPR midfielder Shaun Derry believes that victories over Arsenal and Liverpool will inspire the west Londoners to stay up.

The R’s have won consecutive home games for the first time this season but remain in the relegation zone after Bolton triumphed at Wolves.

“We shouldn’t be down there, we have let ourselves down,” Derry told talkSPORT. “It has been a disappointing season for us but we are where we are because we haven’t been good enough

“If you’re looking for a response from today, I thought we would get a response after the Liverpool game – we beat them and then we let ourselves down at Sunderland – so we’ve got to learn from that first and foremost.

“All we can do is take heart from today’s performance. We’re fully aware of what is needed and it is going to go right until the very last game, I’m sure it is.

“Many more performances like today and I’m sure we will win. That’s what has let us down this season – it’s the grittiness, the determination that has been lacking at certain games.

“But we’ve shown that we can do that today and coupled with the ability that we have in the squad we can get out of this – we really can.”
