Anton Ferdinand believes fans should support their country and forget about Rio Ferdinand’s omission

QPR star Anton Ferdinand has called on England fans to move on after his brother, Rio, was left out of the Three Lions’ Euro 2012 squad.

The Manchester United defender was the surprise omission when the squad was announced and calls for the 33-year-old to be called up grew louder when Chelsea defender Gary Cahill was injured but manager Roy Hodgson elected to take Liverpool full back Martin Kelly.

“Things happen in football,” the QPR defender told Daybreak.

“It’s a game of ups and downs. I am sure he’d like to be there but sadly it didn’t happen this time.

“But we move on and, like he said, he’s going to follow them from somewhere else and, as a family and as a community, we’re going to do that.”
