QPR star reveals fury after Swansea loss and looks to Zamora for Man Utd inspiration

Christopher Samba admits he was furious after QPR’s heavy 4-1 defeat to Swansea but says the relegation-threatened R’s can spark a revival against Manchester United on Saturday if they follow Bobby Zamora’s example.

Zamora recently returned from injury and the striker almost kicked off a QPR comeback at the Liberty Stadium when he scored minutes after coming on at half time.

Further Swansea goals from Pablo Hernandez and Michu extinguished Rangers’ hopes of getting back into the game, but Samba was impressed by Zamora’s passion and urgency.

The club record signing has now urged his team-mates to adopt Zamora’s attitude when Sir Alex Ferguson’s side come to Loftus Road this weekend.

“I have nothing to hide – I was very angry,” Samba told QPR’s official website of the Swansea game. “I said what I saw to the players.

“Bobby Zamora showed us what the Premier League is about when he came on.

“I think more of the players should have his attitude – urgency that reflects we have 12 games left and must play every one like a cup final. We have to give everything.

“You shouldn’t be ashamed of your performances but against Swansea, I was ashamed of both mine and the team’s performance.

“There’s nothing worse than feeling full of regret.”

QPR are languishing seven points adrift from safety at the bottom of the Premier League and desperately need to get points on the board.

“We all want to beat Manchester United,” said Samba. “We’ve worked hard for two weeks in the lead up to the game and we want to get a result.

“But whatever happens, we need to show great attitude and commitment on the pitch.

“We have quality, but we also have to show desire.”
