QPR striker Jamie Mackie believes that his side can beat Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The R’s are yet to taste victory this season but they did manage a draw against European champions Chelsea, while Spurs picked up their first win of the campaign against Reading last Sunday, easing the pressure on head coach Andre Villas-Boas.

“There is perhaps a bit more belief that we can match these sides,” Mackie told the club’s official website.

“We showed it last season at home and we really need to believe that now. [Against Chelsea] that’s the best we have been in terms of our tempo.”

The west Londoners signed 11 players this summer including the likes of Ryan Nelsen, Robert Green, Ji-Sung Park, Jose Bosingwa, Julio Cesar, Esteban Granero as well as Stephane Mbia and Mackie believes the side needs time to gel.

“Good players can play well together, but knowing each other’s game is an important element. You need to understand where people are comfortable and where they aren’t,” he added.

“But more than anything, new lads need time to get used to the team shape and the demands the manager puts on his players.

“Every training session we have, the better and more organised we will be.”
