Redknapp slams diabolical defending & tells fringe players: ‘You blew it!’

QPR manager Harry Redknapp blasted his Rangers flops for their ‘diabolical’ defending and told those on the fringes of the first team that they’d blown their chance after the 4-2 defeat to MK Dons.

Armand Traore scored an own goal after four minutes before Ryan Lowe doubled the lead five minutes before half time.

Ryan Harley made it three five minutes into the second half and Darren Potter sealed the Buckinghamshire club’s progression after 56 minutes.

Jay Bothroyd and Fabio Da Silva pulled two goals back late on but it wasn’t enough.

“I thought we played all right in the first half but we gave two diabolical goals away with terrible, sloppy defending,” Redknapp said.

“I thought we could win the game. The third goal is offside to be honest and the fourth was another sloppy goals. It was diabolical defending.”

Redknapp expected his the side he put out to beat MK Dons and felt that those who hadn’t been playing had blown their chance.

“That’s why they’re here,” he said. “You’ve got an England goalkeeper [Rob Green], a right back from Man Utd [Fabio], Ferdinand, Ben Haim, Granero from Real Madrid, Ali Faurlin who other clubs want, Ji Sung Park from Man Utd, you’ve got Jamie Mackie, Bothroyd and DJ Campbell.

“It’s a team I think that should beat a team two divisions below. It tells me that I need to improve the squad. We’ve picked up in the last 10 games.

“We’re getting blood out of a stone. I gave them a chance today because they knock on my door and say they should be playing.

“Others tell me they are good players and they blew it.”
