Barking head coach Tim Usasz is looking for his side to be more consistent as they continue their battle to beat the drop

Time is running out for the Gale Street side after they slipped to defeat at Coventry last weekend despite a late rally.

But the American international coach feels he has seen flashes of brilliance from his side, though they have often been all too brief.

“There were glimpses of good play from our backs, but it was not consistent enough,” said the Goresbrook chief after Saturday’s 24-16 loss at Coventry.

“It is all there and that is the frustrating thing for us as coaches.

“We just need to execute and start thinking at a higher level. We are Jekyll and Hyde at the minute.

“We do some really good things and some really poor things. We will try to learn from the poor things but unfortunately we continue to do them.

“We have got to go back and look at what we are doing and make sure we are not compounding the mistakes further. We’ll try and take the last 20 minutes and put that out on the field for a bit longer next week.

“There has been a few more positives than in other weeks, but it is another loss and the games are running out for us, so we have got to start playing to our strengths and winning games.”

Barking hope to complete a double over Fylde on Saturday, after their 31-18 win in Lancashire earlier this season and Usasz feels they now have to start imposing themselves in their remaining home games.

“We have a better chance of winning at home and I think targeting the home games is something we have talked about going forward,” he added.

“It doesn’t matter who those games at home are against, we have to put out performances. I think they have had a pretty tough loss in the week just gone so they’ll be looking to come back and prove themselves.

“But it is about time we went out there and put in a better performance in front of our own fans.”
