The well-travelled Australian, 34, arrived in the capital at the start of the 2012 season after a four-year spell in rugby union. Prior to that he had made his name as an Kangaroos international in the 13-man code.

He made 28 appearances for the Broncos last season, excelling after the club changed coach when Tony Rea replaced Rob Powell midway through the season.

“We’re settled here, I spoke to the club and they were willing to give me another year which was great,” Gower said of his new deal.

“Obviously last season was a tough season but we love being here and we’ve enjoyed it, even though it was a tough grind it’s just part of footy. I’m just looking forward to this year.”

During his time in rugby union, Gower won 13 caps for Italy who he qualified to play for through family heritage. He is hopeful of playing for Italy in next year’s rugby league world cup.

“Craig displays terrific appetite for the game and towards training and preparation,” Rea said of his dual-code international.
