Barking Rugby Club will face another summer of change as head coach Tim Usasz confirmed he will not continue in the post next season.

The American international replaced former chief Martin Jones in November last year, but was unable to keep the Gale Street outfit in National One as they finished bottom on 41 points and face life in National Two South next season.

After a difficult first coaching role, Usasz has opted to leave the club and Barking must now start their search for a third coach since former incumbent Alex Codling left for London Scottish last summer.

“I would have loved to have stayed, but it was just not possible,” said Usasz.

“I don’t feel that I know the players at the level which the club will be playing next season and I thought it would be best if they looked for someone new who might be able to help them out.

“There was no talk about a budget at this stage and I couldn’t commit without knowing that.”

Usasz was originally brought in to work as a forwards coach, but after the departure of Jones the former Nottingham scrum-half took full control and he admitted that was a difficult role to fill.

“Circumstances chan-ged my role at the club and it was a difficult one to work with,” he said.

“Full credit goes to the players for sticking by the club.

“They could have chosen the easy option and left mid-season, but they carried on and they deserve praise for that.

“But this is my first coaching role and although it has been difficult for large parts it has been an enjoyable one.”

Many of the club’s squad have also expressed a desire to leave as Barking face up to life back in National Two.

Did Milner work as City’s false nine? How did Benteke fare back on the pitch? And are Liverpool finally in the game?

It’s a sad day for football fans, but especially Hereford United fans after their club has been wound up by the High Court.
