Transfer news: Giovani dos Santos’ agent unhappy with Spurs

The agent of Giovani dos Santos has slammed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and claimed the Mexico star is being ‘held hostage’ by the Premier League club.

Spurs signed the 23-year-old from Barcelona in 2008 for £4.7 million but he has struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane, leading to spells on loan at Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander.

His representative Vicente Montes says that despite interest from Spanish and Italian clubs, Levy’s notoriously tough negotiating stance is hampering dos Santos’ chances of a move.

“As yet, no concrete offer has arrived. Giovani still has one year left on his contract with Tottenham and the market is currently in a very difficult time,” he told calciomercato.it.

“The Spurs chairman is a tough obstacle to overcome, as confirmed by the (Luka) Modric deal.

“Dos Santos is held hostage by Tottenham, but at the end of his contract he’ll have the opportunity to agree a deal with another club.”
