Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas wants his side to rectify the mistakes of the defeat against Wigan when they face Manchester City and Arsenal away from home.

Spurs were unable to put distance between themselves and the Gunners, who lost at Manchester United on Saturday and fell a further point behind the Citizens, who could only draw at West Ham.

Villas-Boas said: “It was an important three points because we will play two teams (Man City and Arsenal) with the same objective as us and we were willing to get something out of this to stabilise our position in the top four.

“On a weekend where most of the other teams met each other this could have been a profitable three points.

“It doesn’t happen, it doesn’t change things and the objectives for the away games to get something out of Man City and out of Arsenal.

“We will definitely be better in those games because we have an ability to recognise our mistakes and do things better than against Wigan.

“Those games (Man City and Arsenal) are ideal for that to happen.”
