Barnsley have completed the signing of former Tottenham goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.

The 25-year-old made one Premier League appearance for Spurs but spent loan spells at Luton, Leicester, Carlisle, Norwich, Leeds and Doncaster and was released at the end of the season.

Alnwick told the club website: “I’m happy to be here. I’m out of contract so I’ve been looking for a club and it’s great to come here. I’m going to try and compete with Steeley (Luke Steele) who is a top ‘keeper.”

“It’ll be good for both of us - pushing each other every day.”
