Transfer news: Fernando Llorente is reportedly desperate to leave Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao insist they will not let Tottenham and Manchester United target Fernando Llorente leave the club for less than his €36 million buy-out clause.

The Spain international striker has only 12 months left to run on his contract and has told the club he wants to move on.

Tottenham reportedly want Llorente to lead their attack, while United could be sounding him out as a possible alternative to Arsenal’s Robin van Persie.

But Athletic Bilbao president Josu Urruti says the club will hold out for a huge offer.

“We are not talking to any other club because Athletic is not a selling club,” said Urruti.

“For him to leave Athletic, the player must not want to be with us and other clubs who want him must pay the amount of the release clause in his contract.

“I continue to want Fernando Llorente to stay here.”
