Transfer news: Ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp expects Luka Modric to join Real Madrid

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp doesn’t expect to see Luka Modric in a Spurs shirt next season.

While the 26-year-old Croatian is keen to leave the White Hart Lane outfit, neither Real Madrid or Manchester United have been willing to meet Spurs’ £40million valuation so far.

But former boss Redknapp, who managed to keep Modric in the face of strong interest from Chelsea last summer, thinks Spurs will eventually sell the midfield maestro, with Spanish champions Madrid his expected destination.

“I would not be sure Luka would start the season at Tottenham,” Redknapp told the Sun.

“The club would be happy to sell if they get the right money,” he continued.

The chairman [Daniel Levy] said to him last year ‘Give us one more season and if Real come in, I won’t stand in your way’.”
