Hugo Lloris has refused to be drawn into talk that he could be find himself as the second choice goalkeeper at Tottenham.

The France number one joined Spurs from Lyon on transfer deadline day which was too late for him to play in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Norwich City.

However, manager Andre Villas-Boas said that current White Hart Lane stopper Brad Friedel had made himself first choice after his performance against the Canaries.

That saw France coach Didier Deschamps suggest that Lloris’ place in the national team could be under threat if the American is preferred by Spurs.

But Lloris played down the issue when it was raised ahead of Les Bleus’ World Cup qualifier against Finland tonight.

He said: “I am a professional and I can put all this aside.

“I am only and entirely focused on France.

“I have played enough matches in the past to be able to manage this.”
