Transfer news: Karl Robinson would like to take David Bentley to stadium:mk but doubts it would happen
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson admits he’d love to sign Tottenham’s David Bentley but can’t see the 27-year-old dropping out of the Premier League.
A loan move to the npower League One side was mooted early this year with the former Blackburn midfielder’s opportunities at White Hart Lane restricted in recent seasons.
Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had not played him since November 2010 and in the 2010-11 campaign he spent time on loan in the Championship with Birmingham and West Ham United.
Robinson told TalkSport: “I’d love to take Bents, but the chairman says I’m not allowed.
“David Bentley is a good friend of mine, he’s someone I know well from Blackburn and we have the same agent.
“It’s a deal I’d love to try and make happen but David Bentley has got tremendous quality and I’d be very, very surprised to see him playing outside of the Premier League.”
