Hamburg coach Thomas Fink would love to have Rafael van der Vaart at the German side but believes a deal will not go ahead due to financial reasons.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move away from Spurs with a return to German most likely.

“We have drawn up a target profile and Rafael van der Vaart would be an ideal fit,’’ Fink told Sport 1.

“Any coach would be delighted to have him. Rafael is a very good player and he would be very interesting for Hamburg if we had the money to pay for him. And we are not lacking just a little, we are talking about a great deal of money.’’

The Dutchman scored 29 goals in 74 games in a three year spell with Hamburg before moving to Real Madrid in 2008.
