Harry Redknapp has given his backing to Roy Hodgson
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that his side were not affected by rumours linking him with the England post after the north Londoners looked more like their old selves in the 4-1 win over Bolton.
The Spurs boss was overlooked as Roy Hodgson was appointed to the role but in that time the north Londoners threw away a 10 point lead to Arsenal and they trail their fierce rivals by a single point with two games remaining.
“It [the England speculation] never bothered me from day one, to be honest. I didn’t wake up on Monday and think ‘oh my god’.
“I’ve been through a lot this year, I’m very lucky to work with these players and I appreciate every day of my life. They are great players, it’s a great club.
“There are a lot of great managers in the league and I’m lucky to be up there with them. I don’t think it [managing England] will ever happen now. Roy has four years and I hope he sees it out and has great success at the Euros. He will select a squad that is capable of giving it real go and I think he’ll do well.”
Tottenham’s final two fixtures are against struggling Aston Villa on Sunday before hosting Fulham the following week.
