Transfer news: Andre Villas-Boas will assess Giovani Dos Santos after the Olympics
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that a decision regarding the future of Giovani Dos Santos will have to wait until the Mexico international finishes up his Olympic duty.
The 23-year-old has failed to break into the first team since his arrival at Spurs from Barcelona in 2008, and was sent out on loan three times by former boss Harry Redknapp.
However, life under Villas-Boas could give the midfielder a fresh opportunity to show his worth.
“There are still decisions to be made bearing in mind the players that are on the Olympics,” Villas-Boas told reporters.
“This can only be done from when Gio returns to the final day of the transfer market. This doesn’t mean Gio is available for a transfer, but his situation will be assessed on an ongoing process like most of the players.
“I want to see him in the environment and back to the team,” he added. “You always get to know a player a little bit better when you involve him on a daily basis in training.”
